Macron: Europeans should not forget the importance of the fall of the Berlin Wall
"30 years ago, the Berlin Wall did not fall - it was demolished by the courage of thousands of men and women imbued with the spirit of freedom," Macron wrote on his Twitter and German social networking page. "They have paved the way for the unification of Germany and the unity of Europe. To remain at the height of their courage, we must remain true to their aspirations."
For his part, French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe posted a video message on his Twitter page, describing the impressions of those days thirty years ago. "It was a real holiday," the Prime Minister recalls. "It is amazing that in a very short time and in such a peaceful way we were able to achieve the fall of the wall and the unification of Germany," he emphasized.
