Parking on bus lanes and bike paths Berlin: massive controls announced by police and BVG - Berliner Morgenpost
As of Monday, illegal parking will be increasingly controlled and punished by the police and public transport companies when they take part in a joint campaign.
Berlin. & Nbsp; In the coming week, the Berlin police want to take targeted action against illegally parked people who block bus lanes and bike paths with their cars. From Monday to Friday, roads are checked, in which the second row is kept and parked every day, the police said on Friday. With the joint action, the police, regulatory agencies and the Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG) want to increase road safety and promote more consideration. The police announced that they would immediately punish violations and have cars moved.
Interior Senator Andreas Geisel (SPD) supports the campaign. "Parking in the second row as well as on bus and bike lanes is selfish and ruthless," said the senator. The police are targeting illegal parking for the second time this year. In spring 2019, almost 6,500 stops and parking violations were found and punished during a comparable five-day inspection. Cars were implemented in almost 290 cases.
The police again explicitly pointed out that bicycle paths and bus lanes as well as in the second row should not be stopped or parked for short periods. Parking is also prohibited on marked wheel protection strips on the road.
